Santa Fe QM2R 900-Watt Quesadilla Maker Review
I've owned this little maker for about six months now.
It makes wonderful turkey and cheese quesadillas for me. And, as others have stated, no the maker won't snap shut for me, either. But it doesn't matter to me, as I cut the quesadilla at the indentions and put the sections in a sandwich holder for work.
I also am known to put in a lot of meat and topping. So that could be a factor as to why it won't close, or seal the tortilla.
The quesas turn out crispy and brown. They end up oh so good. And yes, I also recommend the biggest tortillas for the unit. Mine are just an inch or so minus. So, even though it never seals it, and cheese may drip onto the plates, it still tastes great, and that's what matters to me.
The only flaw I have (Hence the four stars) the plates are a little difficult to clean. So if anyone has any tips on how to clean some of the cheesy oil off the unit easier, please post a comment.
Wonderful maker if you don't mind the quesa not sealing. So give it a shot. They are still quite yummy! ^_^

Way Over Hyped but ok - ncage - Central IL
Like i said in my title i think this quesadilla maker is over-hyped. Can't believe there are so many 5 star ratings. I have to admit i was about to give this thing a 1 star rating and return it to walmart but i found out i missed one important step. When you put your raw quesadilla in unit make sure you snap it shut. The instructions will say if you can't snap it shut then thats ok everything will cook fine but don't listen. If you can't snap it shut put less toppings in it. It won't be crips and will not very good. I seen some reviews say things gets too hot? Compared to what? Your counter? Duh its small appliance that supposed to cook quesadillas.....its going to least get a little hot. That being said i wish it got hotter. I don't really believe the 900-watt rating. I have a cuisinart griddler and it gets rocket hot compared to this thing.
I love quesadillas and i've cooked them in every traditional manner than you can cook them: Stove Top (In a little butter and sage leaves), Grill, and in the oven. I prefer the stove by far to any method and don't much like the oven (dry & stale tasting). That being said when you cook quesidillas in this machine they are ok just as long as you don't overfill them. They are pretty healthy as long as you don't have unhealthy toppings. Just get a little butter flavored pam.
Neat, but not the best designed - S.M. -
After only a handful of uses, I broke my quesadilla maker. The rubberized portion where you press the lid shut is not very well reinforced. Additionally, it gets very hot, so I only use my thumb to close the lid. The pan is kinda shallow, so its hard to put enough toppings in. These combined are why my quesadilla maker now has a thumb sized hole where you shut the lid. Apparently, instead of glueing a piece of plastic and rubber to a metal lid, the makers actually had a hole in the metal where the ruber patch covers. SO if you press too hard, you snap the plastic. Granted, I was overstuffing the quesadilla maker, but It still baffles me why you would have only plastic where your user would be pushing the hardest.
